Selecting the Correct Zinc Plated Wedge Anchor
Before starting an anchoring project, it is very important to determine the correct length of wedge anchor to use. This will assist in correct and safe installation. The spacing between anchors and between an anchor and an unsupported edge is also important to consider when installing wedge anchors. Once the correct size and spacing requirements are determined, the installation of zinc plated wedge anchors can be completed. Three other important things to consider are: the correct bit size to use, the size of the fixture hole to ensure the strongest holding values and the proper wrench to use. Anchor Length:
To determine the length of anchor that is needed for your application. Add the thickness of material to be fastened to the minimum embedment for the diameter being used, plus 1/2”, plus the thickness of the nut and washer. This will give you the minimum length of anchor required.
Concrete Anchor Spacing:
As a rule of thumb, the concrete anchor industry has established a minimum of ten (10) anchor diameters for spacing between anchors and five (5) anchor diameters from an unsupported edge. When vibration or sudden impact are part of the load conditions, anchor spacing should be increased.
